Part 46 is for surface shell dredging, sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay, colloidal phosphate, surface limestone, marble, granite, sandstone, slate, shale, traprock, kaolin, cement, feldspar, and lime mines.

Part 48 is for underground metal and nonmetal mines, surface metal mines, and certain surface nonmetal mines that are not listed under Part 46.
